Memo to self.

So, today's Herald suggests that it has a copy of a "secret memo" relating to the Scottish Labour Party's election campaign written by former Special Adviser Adrian Colwell in which he reportedly suggests that "Scottish Labour lost the May election because of infighting over control, a poorly thought out manifesto and the facts that the party had little momentum or a positive message."

Mr Smith is tempted to say, 'so tell us something we didn't already know' and whilst we are at it, are party memos ever anything other than "secret"? It reminds Mr Smith about an old political adage he learned in his youth about never putting anything in writing that you didn't want your worst enemy to read. It appears Mr Colwell hasn't learned that lesson.

It does however make Mr Smith wonder who could possibly, other than the opposition to the Labour Party, have anything to gain from having such a memo made public?
