From greasy pole to springboard.

Mr Smith notes that the "greasy pole" which seemed to characterise so much of the art of politics has apparently been replaced with the "springboard" following the revelation that three Conservative Members of the Scottish Parliament: Jamie McGrigor, Alex Johnstone, and John Lamont, are hoping to be elected to the House of Commons at the next Westminster General Election, which will then mean they will stand down from their Scottish Parliament seats.

Mr Smith is very discouraged with how easily some MSPs seem to take the responsibilities of being elected to Holyrood, but notes that this is not the first time that a Conservative MSP has done so. Remember Scotland's only current Conservative MP, David Mundell, who sat at Holyrood until the 2005 elections meant he won a seat in the Houses of Parliament? Seem to be a Conservative thing then.
