Who's yer jannie?

From the Herald Diary:

"YOU can't beat the intrigue of a Labour Party selection meeting. Mohammad Sarwar is one of a number of Labour MPs who want their children to take over their seats, and so conspiracy theorists were not surprised that the Glasgow Central selection meeting, which chose his son, Anas, to follow him as Labour candidate, was held in one of the more inaccessible parts of the constituency, St Albert's Primary School, rather than a city-centre location. Identification checks meant the meeting went on longer than expected, with one or two members slipping outside to phone home. Once outside, though, they were told they couldn't get back in, as it was against procedure. One gentleman stopped by an officious apparatchik was heard arguing: "What do you mean I won't be able to get back in the school?" He then added: "I'm the jannie." "

No arguing with that then.
